Parks in Tokyo were cordoned off as the the Japanese government has been calling upon people to refrain from holding picnic parties under the cherry blossoms.
Visitors thronged to see the splendid site as a state of emergency was lifted last week.
The cherry blossoms this year have reached their peak earlier than usual and experts suggest climate change is likely the cause.
