Tokyo Olympics 2020: Dutee Chand fails to qualify for 200m semis

Despite finishing with the season-best timing of 23.85 secs, India's star Dutee Chand failed to qualify for the semi-final of the women's 200m event at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday.

While the 25-year-old finished 7th in Heat 4, Namibia's Christine Mbomo who broke the National record was at the top as she reached the finishing line in just 22.11 secs. USA's Gabrielle Thomas grabbed the second spot.

The Odisha-born sprinter who has a national best of 23 secs attained the 38th spot among the 41 competitors. Earlier on Friday, she also failed to qualify for the women's 100m race.
