Did you know that Neeraj Chopra, who has set a benchmark for India at the Olympics, completely changed his look before the Summer Games?

The Gold medallist who usually kept long locks, chopped them all off before the Olympics. 

With his new found social media fame and sudden female attention, the shy 23-year-old from Panipat spoke about why he chose to change his look.

Neeraj Chopra revealed that the long hair bothered him during training, adding that during a few competitions, he would sweat and it would come down to his eyes. He even tried headbands and caps to keep it in place but didn't work.

"In a couple of competitions, my hair was causing a lot of sweat and was dripping onto my eyes, and since it was Olympics, I thought style baad mein ho jaega, game pehle (style can come later, the game comes first)," he said. 

Neeraj Chopra who returned home on Monday won India's first athletics gold in Javelin Throw with a throw of 87.58 m at Tokyo.
