Star wrestler and one of India’s biggest medal hopes at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, on Tuesday, Vinesh Phogat missed her flight to Tokyo from Frankfurt.
According to PTI, she had overstayed her European Union (EU) visa by one day. The report quoted an IOA official who said, it was an oversight and something not done on purpose. Instead of 90 days as per her Schengen visa, she had been in the EU for 91 days and was stopped at the Frankfurt airport when she landed from Budapest. The matter was taken up by the Sports Authority of India and the Indian consulate in Frankfurt has now sorted the issue. She flies to Tokyo on Thursday.

Vinesh Phogat is the reigning Asian Games and Commonwealth Game champion, and has won bronze in the World Championships. The 26-year-old is a a gold medal contender for India, in the 53kg women's freestyle category and is the top seed. Her competitions starts August 5.
