The Indian Medical Association has demanded prosecution of yoga guru Baba Ramdev for his controversial remarks against allopathic medicine.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Ramdev is seen deriding allopathy as a "stupid stream". He goes on to say that lakhs of people have died during the Covid pandemic by taking allopathic medicines.

The top medical body has written an angry letter to health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan seeking action against Ramdev's. The IMA has asked the health minister to either accept Ramdev's views on allopathy or prosecute him.

Pointing out that Ramdev and his associate, Bal Krishna have both taken allopathic treatment for their illnesses, the medical body has stated that the yoga guru is spreading misinformation and is putting lives of lakhs of people at risk by advising them not to take allopathic medicine.

Other doctors' associations have slammed Randev for his controversial comments.
