The Goa government has decided to impose a 15-day 'total curfew' beginning May 9 in the state to curb the spread of coronavirus infections. The announcement comes a day after Chief Minister Pramod Sawant hinted that the government is thinking of imposing a lockdown. Shops dealing with essential services will remain open from 7am to 1pm, while home delivery of food will be allowed between 7 am and 7 pm.

Goa is currently under stringent Covid-19-related curbs, which include closure of non-essential shops.

The restrictions come at a time when Goa is battling a high positivity rate of  51.65%. On Thursday, Goa reported its highest daily tally so far with 3,869 Covid-19 cases.
