Amid the ongoing tussle between Twitter and PM Modi led BJP government at the centre, Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday said that social media giant had denied him access to his account for almost an hour over complaints of violation of copyright laws. The minister said Twitter claimed he had violated copyright law by posting clips of himself from television debates. The microblogging site subsequently allowed him to access the account, Prasad added.

Prasasd took to indigenous social messaging app Koo to share his ‘peculiar’ experience. He further said ‘Twitter's actions were in gross violation of the IT rules 2021 as they failed to provide him any prior notice before denying him access to his account.
