Britain's top medical advisors have alerted their government and asked it impose stricter restrictions to check the spread of the pandemic.
While the UK is witnessing a similar Covid infection rate as that in May, Chief Medical officer Chris Whitty on Monday cautioned that without further restrictions the country could see 50,000 new cases per day by mid-October.
The medical advisors also pointed out that the challenge for Britain is to make sure that the doubling time does not stay at 7 days.
Last week PM Boris Johnson raised fears of a second wave of the pandemic beginning its sweep across the UK.
