BJP leader Uma Bharti has appealed to party president JP Nadda through a series of tweets to ban liquor in all states ruled by the saffron party. Her tweet came days after MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that new liquor shops will be opened in the state.

She wrote that during the lockdown when liquor shops were closed people died to Covid-19 and other reasons but no one died due to liquor consumption. She also spoke about recent deaths in UP and MP due to drinking of spurious liquor.  The former union minister said that driving after drinking is one of major causes of road accidents and called alcohol a 'messenger of death'

In one of her tweets Uma Bharti wrote that crimes like rapes, murders and child molestation are done under the influence of alcohol and hence liquor prohibition will prove to be beneficial.
