In the Union Budget 2021 speech, FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will provide a record sum of Rs 1,10,055 crores to Railways of which Rs 1,07,100 crores will be for Capital Expenditure only.
Sitharaman spoke on the National Rail Plan for India 2030, stating the plan aims to create a future-ready railways system by 2030 and bring down the logistic cost for the industry.
She claimed safety measures undertaken in past years have borne results. To further strengthen, high-density and highly utilised network routes, Railways will be provided with indigenously developed automatic train protection system that will eliminate train collision due to human error, the Finance Minister said.
