President Joe Biden has formally lifted the United States' refugee cap to 62,500 this year.

The decision comes weeks after he faced bipartisan blowback for his delay in lifting former President Donald Trump’s limit of 15,000.

The programme is only for refugees selected by US security and intelligence agencies from United Nations camps around the world.
