Japan's Naomi Osaka staged a brilliant fightback in a thrilling US Open final as she bounced back from a set down to beat Victoria Azarenka 1-6, 6-3, 6-3 and reigned supreme at the Flushing Meadows for the 2nd time. Surprisingly, Osaka kept missing shots and digging herself a deficit but she suddenly lifted her game and Azarenka couldn’t sustain her start. The 22-year-old has now taken her Grand Slam singles tally to 3. It was in fact the first time in 26 years that the woman who lost the first set of a US Open final would eventually end up winning.
