After a purported video of him attending a religious ceremony in Kanpur went viral on social media, a senior IAS officer has been accused of promoting religious conversions and spreading propaganda against Hinduism.

Editorji couldn’t establish the authenticity of the video independently.

The allegations against senior IAS officer, Mohammad Iftikharuddin, have been levelled by the national vice-president of Math Mandir Coordination Committee Bhupesh Awasthi.

Awasthi has released the video of Iftikharuddin, who is presently serving as the Chairman of UP State Road Transport Corporation.

The purported video also shows a group of people sitting on the floor while a cleric is heard preaching religious sermons with the IAS officer in attendance.

Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team has been constituted to probe the case and submit report in seven days.
