Uttarakhand has lowest child sex ratio in the country: Niti Aayog report

Uttarakhand has the worst sex ratio at birth, according to Sustainable Development Goals released by the Niti Aayog. The state's sex ratio is 840, against the national average of 899.

Chhattisgarh is the best performing state, where male-to-female ratio at birth stood at 958, the Niti Aayog report showed. Kerala is at the second place with a sex ratio of 957.

Punjab and Haryana, notorious for their skewed sex ratio have improves the position. While Haryana recorded birth of 843 females per 1000 males, in Punjab the number has reached 890.

Overall, Kerala was the top performer with a score of 75 in the Niti Aayog index, while Bihar was adjudged to be the worst-performing state with a score of 52.
