Vaccine milestone for India: 50% have got at least one dose

With over 61 crore vaccines administered across the country India has crossed a mega vaccination milestone, where 50% of the adult population has had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. 

On Thursday, India completed administering 47.29 crore first doses — which equates to 50.30 per cent of  projected adult population which is estimated to be around 94 crore as per govt data. Overall  15 per cent of the adult population in India is fully vaccinated.

Daily vaccinations have so far averaged 52 lakh doses in August which is a big jump compared to 43.41 lakh doses administered in July.

India's vaccination drive began on January 16 is racing against time to vaccinate all eligible adults by year end target of December 2021.
