Shortly after praising the Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, veteran Goa Congress leader Luizinho Faleiro on Monday quit his party of 40 years.

It has fuelled rumors that Faleiro is joining the TMC.

In his effusive praise for Mamata, he called the Bengal CM the only "street fighter" who can give the BJP a tough fight.

Meanwhile TMC leader Derek O'Brien just started following Faleiro on Twitter further fanning rumours of the Congress leader joining the ruling party of Bengal

If Faleiro joins TMC, it will be the second prominent defection after the crossover of Sushmita Deb who has been given a big role in Tripura ahead of elections next year.

Faleiro will likely be entrusted with bolstering the Trinamool in Goa. In poll bound Goa, the Congress is considerably weakened and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is campaigning aggressively.

Further, Faleiro who was the Congress's in-charge of Tripura for the 2019 national election can help the TMC’s fight against the ruling BJP in the north-eastern state.
