Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has hit back at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for questioning govt Covid death figures. In a response to Gandhi's tweet quoting a New York Times report on India's Covid numbers, the minister wrote that "vultures are intent on playing politics over Covid deaths".
"Politics on corpses, INC India Style! Although vultures are disappearing from trees, it seems their spirit has been absorbed by vultures of the earth.@RahulGandhi ji trusts #NewYork more than #Delhi. One should learn to play politics on corpses from the vultures of the earth," his tweet read.
"Numbers don't lie... GOI does," Gandhi had posted on Wednesday morning, along with the NYT article.
The Congress has repeatedly accused the Centre of under-reporting Covid deaths.
