Norway's double world champion Karsten Warholm made a huge statement ahead of the Tokyo Olympics by breaking the world record in the men's 400-metre hurdles. Running in front of his home fans in Oslo, Warholm clocked 46.70 seconds at the 4th Diamond League event of the season. The 25-year-old broke the 1992 Olympic champion Kevin Young's record of 46.78 seconds which is one of the longest-standing records in men's track athletics.
