Ajay, originally Vishal Veeru Devgan, was born on April 2, 1969, in New Delhi. He studied at Mumbai's Bappu School and Mithibai College.
Ajay Devgn began his career as a child actor in the 1985 film ‘Pyari Behna’.
His father, Veeru, is a renowned stunt choreographer, while his mother, Veena, is a film producer. His brother Anil is also a producer.
He made his leading debut in 1991 with ‘Phool Aur Kaante’. The film earned him his 1st Filmfare Award for Best Debut.
If reports are to be believed Ajay Devgan was reportedly the original choice for Salman Khan's role in ‘Karan Arjun’.
Ajay made his directorial debut film with his wife Kajol. It was titled 'U Me Aur Hum'.
Devgn set up a production company known as Ajay Devgn Films Productions in 2000. Its 1st film was ‘Raju Chacha’.
In 2009, Ajay changed his surname from Devgan to Devgn due to the request of his family members.
