After featuring in Mani Ratnam's 'Dil Se' and AR Rahman's foot-tapping 'Chaiyya Chaiyya', SRK has had a loyal fan following in the South.
SRK was cast in the 2000 film 'Hey Ram', in which he played Amjad Ali Khan. Kamal Haasan revealed that he did the film for free.
SRK also paid tribute to superstar Rajinikanth in 'Ra One' in 2011.
In the 2013 film 'Chennai Express', SRK again paid tribute to Rajinikanth with a dance number, 'Lungi Dance'.
SRK has never done an out-and-out South Indian film. 'Jawan' is a semi-Tamil film and his first association with director Atlee.
In Jawan, SRK has been paired with Nayanthara, who is hailed as Lady Superstar in South. Vijay Sethupathi, who is loved by all, will play his enemy.
Not just the stars, composer Anirudh Ravichander, cinematographer GK Vishnu, choreographer Shobi and art director Muthuraj will make Bollywood debut.
SRK seems to be enjoying South’s extravagant filmmaking style and ‘Jawan’ might help him cement a place in the South industry.
The advance booking for 'Jawan' in Tamil Nadu and Telugu states looks promising.
Written and directed by Atlee, 'Jawan' is an action thriller that releases on September 7 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
