UP cabinet minister Yogendra Upadhyay was seen trying to hand a cheque to the inconsolable and grieving mother of a soldier recently killed in J&K
Upadhyay's ‘heartless’ act has been condemned by several opposition leaders. ‘Don’t put up a show,’ the mother is heard saying in Hindi.
Upadhyay was visiting the Agra residence of Captain Shubham Gupta, who was one of the five army personnel killed in an encounter in J&K.
68-year-old Yogendra Upadhyay is a member of the BJP. He is also a cabinet member under UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
He is a member of Uttar Pradesh’s Legislative Assembly and represents Agra (South) constituency.
As a cabinet minister, he is in charge of three departments – Higher Education, Science and Technology, Electronics and Information Technology.
