Indians holding ordinary passports can go to Iran without a Visa, as long as they are visiting the country for tourism.
Those entering Iran without a visa can stay for a maximum of 15 days. They can re-enter the country after six months.
Visa-free rule applies only to Indians entering the Iran by air.
For a longer period of stay or multiple entries within 6 months, Indians must get a Visa.
In December 2023, Iran proposed waiver of Visa requirement for India as well as 32 other countries to boost tourism.
Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam have also recently waived visa requirements for Indian citizens
