West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee on Friday refused to accept the resignation of rebel TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari and has asked him to meet on Monday.

Adhikari formally tendered his resignation to party chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday. He has also resigned from the state Legislative Assembly.

"I have examined the letter and found that the date isn't specified in it. I hadn't been informed that his (Suvendu Adhikari) resignation is voluntary and genuine. So it's not possible to accept it," the speaker said.
