WhatsApp has issued a clarification on its privacy policy, stating that user data and messages were not being seen or shared by either WhatsApp or its parent firm Facebook. The messaging service had notified users of a mandatory policy change set to go into effect from February 8, which had privacy experts concerned. Many users even jumped ship to secure messaging apps like Signal and Telegram, forcing WhatsApp to clarify that the changes in privacy policy were related to messaging business on WhatsApp, and not for individual users.
