Speaking with social media users, a WHO expert asked young people to rethink their partying habits in a Q&A session on Twitter. Dr. Mike Ryan spoke about the role of young people in spreading the novel coronavirus, elaborating that at the beginning of the pandemic, 'there was a reasonable perception out there that this was a disease of older people or people with underlying conditions.' However, that situation has now changed significantly as young people aged 15-24 testing Covid-19 positive have tripled in about five months, from 4.5% to 15%. Dr. Ryan said that young people need to ask themselves, 'Do I really need to go to that party? Do I really need to be part of that indoor nightclub? And what are the consequences of doing that?'
