Why are DMK candidates urging PM Modi to campaign in their constituencies?

What's an election campaign without political potshots? As Prime minister Narendra Modi campaigned in Tamil Nadu on Friday, a number of DMK candidates took to twitter in a coordinated campaign sarcastically urging the PM to campaign for the BJP or AIADMK candidates in their respective seats.

In tongue-in-cheek tweets, which were similarly worded, the DMK candidates said that PM Modi's campaign will help them widen their victory margin.

Several DMK candidates including Cumbum N Ramakrishnan and 5-time MLA EV Velu, who was last week raided by tax officials, put out tweets urging PM to campaign. PM Modi campaigned in Madurai and Kanyakumari for the BJP candidates.
