Why is it that media, political leaders & experts often refer to farmers only as men, when over 40% of agricultural labour force are women? "Those who collect data don't count agricultural work done by women since they aren't paid jobs," says Prof Vibhuti Patel of TISS. She describes the three main reasons why women farmers in India are not just discounted but also invisibilised by the society.
