An ethereal photograph of an endangered Siberian tiger hugging an ancient Manchurian fir tree to mark it with her scent, clicked by Russian photographer Sergey Gorshkov has bagged this year's Wildlife Photographer of the Year grand title.

It took Gorshkov 11 months to capture the perfect image now dubbed 'The Embrace' using hidden cameras.

The Duchess of Cambridge announced the winner for the competition at an online ceremony. Winners of other categories included the young Wildlife Photographer of the Year which went to Liina Heikkinen for her picture of a red fox defending the remains of a barnacle goose.
