Angelica Gaitan went missing 2 years ago and early morning on Saturday she was found floating in the sea, alive. The 46-year-old Colombian woman was found by fisherman Rolando Visbal and his friend around 2kms away from the shore of Puerto Colombia. Video shared by Visbal shows him and his friend pulling Gaitan to safety of their boat. Reports say she was exhausted and suffering from hypothermia after staying afloat for more than eight hours.

But this is where the fairy tale ends. After Angelica Gaitan was treated at the hospital she revealed that she had suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her husband for 20 years and in 2018 she finally decided to run away when her husband tried to kill her.

Angelica tried to jump into the sea and end her life after she turned out of the rescue centre. According to reports, her daughter has been tracked down and is now raising money to bring Angelica back to Colombia.
