3 Soldiers, Officer Of Israel's Multidimensional 888 'Ghost Unit' Killed In Gaza

IDF's most elite Unit 888 lost 4 soldiers in Gaza clash. The soldiers were killed during an operation in a building in Jabalia. As the soldiers reached the 2nd floor, the soldiers fell into a boobytrap.  IDF has lost many soldiers in Hamas's boobytrap attacks in Gaza recently. 

IDF said along with 4 soldiers, 1 trooper sustained serious injuries. Hamas attack caused death of commanding officer and 3 soldiers. Commando Ghost Unit 888 was set up by ex-Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi in 2019. 

The elite combat unit is designed for rapid, multi-dimensional warfare. Unit 888 combines forces from different branches of Israeli military. The Unit has all-terrain operational capability, equipped with advanced weaponry. 

Ghost unit soldiers are armed with personal drones, advance night vision scopes.  Unit 888 has its own real-time operational platform ZID-750 intel unit. ZID-750 collects information from multiple fronts and feeds the unit. The unit first operated against Hezbollah on the Israel's northern border.  But, the unit was put on real test in Gaza in unprecedented ways.

Its former commander Roi Levi was killed in Re'im on Oct 7, 2023, by Qassam fighters. Along with Roi Levi, the Unit’s training chief and coordination officer were also killed.
