The Christmas celebrations in Ukraine are a mix of gloom and hope this time. A viral photo from the war-ravaged country shows glimpses of Chrsitmas from 2019 to 2022, with this year's Christmas tree decorated with doves- which is considered a symbol of peace.
This year's solitary Christmas tree at Independence Square in Kyiv shows is sans any lights amid a dark background with only white doves decorated on them.
The viral photo has been shared by more than 8,000 people with netizens pointing the contrastig celebrations in Ukaraine, where the Russian invasion will be completing a year in about a month's time.

Meanwhile, Ukraine is accelerating efforts to erase the vestiges of Soviet and Russian influence from its public spaces by pulling down monuments and renaming hundreds of streets to honour its own artists, poets, soldiers, independence leaders and others — including heroes of this year's war.
