Doctors in Israel saved the life of a 12-year-old boy by performing a very unusual surgery of reattaching his head to his neck after he was hit by a car in June.

The Times of Israel reported that Suleiman Hassan's skull detached from the top vertebrae of his spine after a car accident.

The surgeon who headed the operation told the news outlet they had to fix plates in the damaged area to attach Hassan's head. The surgery reportedly lasted for several hours.

The boy's recovery is being called a miracle as the doctors believed he only had a 50% chance of survival.
