An Australian sailor stranded at sea with his dog for three months was rescued by a Mexican tuna boat, the fishing vessel's owner said on July 17.

Timothy Lyndsay Shaddock, 54, was aboard his incapacitated catamaran Aloha Toa in the Pacific some 1,200 miles from land when the crew of the boat from the Grupomar fleet spotted them.

Shaddock and his dog Bella were discovered in a "precarious" situation. The crew of the tuna boat provided them with medical assistance, food, and hydration. Grupomar did not specify when or on what day Shaddock was rescued or when he began his journey.

A storm wrecked the boat and wiped out its electronics, after which he and his dog survived on raw fish and rainwater, Shaddock told Australia's Nine News Television.
