Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Mohammad Yunus summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma following massive flooding in the eastern districts of Bangladesh.

This comes after Bangladesh Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam accused India of behaving in an inhumane manner by releasing water from Tripura's Dumbur dam without prior warning.

India has denied the allegation saying the flooding in western Tripura and parts of Bangladesh occurred due to heavy rains over the past few days.

India's foreign ministry said that the Dumbur dam had been auto-releasing water as a consequence of the unprecedented rainfall.
