Pakistan's Karachi city was rocked by a major explosion on April 26. The blast occurred inside the premises of the University of Karachi.

At least 4 people died, including three Chinese nationals. Many more were injured in the incident.

The blast occurred in a van near the Confucius Institute in the university. The Confucius Institute is a non-profit school teaching Chinese languages to locals.

The victims were identified as Confucius Institute Director Huang Guiping, Ding Mupeng, Chen Sa and Khalid, the Pakistani driver.

The Chinese nationals may have been the target of the blast, according to reports quoting police sources. Witnesses recording videos at the site claimed that some people were inside the burning vehicle.

The Jang newspaper reports that the van was ferrying the Chinese nationals from a guest house to the institute. Karachi is considered Pakistan's financial capital.
