In a super rare conception, a teenager has given birth to twin babies from two different fathers.
A 19-year-old woman from Brazil gave birth to twins nine months after intercourse with two men on the same day.
This 'one-in-a-million' conception left the young mother amazed as she took a paternity test to find out the father.
The DNA test, however for the man she presumed to be the father came back positive for only one of the babies, despite the babies looking identical.
The two babies were conceived by two different men. To add to the mystery, the babies were born in a single delivery
The doctors on the other hand have called this an extremely rare phenomenon, but didn't rule out its possibility. Scientifically, the phenomenon is known as 'heteroparental superfecundation.'
A news report quoting a woman physician from Brazil's Goiânia states, "It is possible to happen when two eggs from the same mother are fertilized by different men. The babies share the mother’s genetic material, but they grow in different placentas.”
There are about 20 other heteroparental superfencundation cases in the world, the report added.
Though the doctors have outlined the recent case as a 'one in a million' case.
