Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted on Sunday that his govt intends to appoint a special representative to fight Islamophobia.
He tweeted 'Islamophobia is unacceptable. Full stop. We need to put an end to this hate and make our communities safer for Muslim Canadians. To help with that, we intend to appoint a Special Representative on combatting Islamophobia.'
The Trudeau govt also released a statement reaffirming its commitment to take action to denounce and tackle Islamophobia and hate-fueled violence.

On January 29, Canada marked the National Day of Remembrance of the Québec City Mosque Attack and Action against Islamophobia. 6 people had died on January 29, 2017 when a 27-year-old man attacked a mosque in Quebec.
