North Korea conducted its second weapons launch of the week on 14 March 2023, a day after its adversaries USA and South Korea began their largest joint field military exercises in years.
In the latest test, North Korea fired a ballistic missile towards its eastern waters, Seoul said. Before this, Pyongyang claimed to have test-fired two cruise missiles from a submarine, the first time the country is known to have conducted a launch of that type. Its previous underwater launches all involved ballistic missiles.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the latest launch was made in the morning but did not offer further details, such as how far the missile flew.
