The Indian embassy in Khartoum has warned all its nationals in Sudan against stepping out amid fierce fighting between the army and paramilitary.

A statement by the embassy said that many instances of looting are being reported in Sudan and advised all Indians to avoid going out. It asked people to ration their supplies as the situation may continue for a few more days.

The embassy also urged Indians to seek help from their neighbours if required.
