Around 70 firefighters tackled a blaze near a major London station on Wednesday, officials said.

The London Fire Brigade said a railway arch containing a number of vehicles was "completely alight" in Southwark, close to London Bridge station.

Video footage showed large plumes of smoke rising into the air near the railway lines.

Ten fire engines were sent to the scene and crews advised people in the area to keep their doors and windows closed.

Firefighters said they also investigated reports of smoke coming from London Bridge underground station but confirmed the smoke was coming from the fire crews were tackling Southwark.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, officials said.
