Five people lost their lives after a cargo ship rammed into a bridge in southern China, causing a part of the structure to snap in half. The deadly collision happened on February 21 over the Pearl River in Guangzhou.
According to the South China Post outlet, five vehicles – a bus, a motorcycle, and three vans – tumbled off the Lixinsha bridge when the empty ship struck two of the bridge’s pillars.
Three vehicles landed on the ship, while the other two plunged into the river. City authorities said that three bodies and the vehicles were fished out from the river on February 22.
