All flights were cancelled at Germany's Berlin airport on 25 January 2023. Around 300 flights to and from Germany's capital city were affected.

The cancellations were forced by a protest strike by ground staff seeking higher pay. While the staff is demanding a pay hike of 500 euros per month, employers have offered a one-time payment of 2,000 euros.

At 7.9%, Germany saw its highest annual inflation in more than 70 years in 2022. People have been reeling from spiralling food and energy prices.
