An American company which specialises in space burials is reportedly sending hair strands of former US Presidents to outer space.

Celestis, a Texas-based company, said that it will send "authenticated DNA" of former Presidents to space to mark Presidents' Day in the US.

Hair samples of George Washington, John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Ronald Reagan were offered by an anonymous donor along with certificates of authenticity, the company said.

The space mission is likely to take place later this year aboard a United Launch Alliance rocket.
