Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has told the country’s Parliament that the Indian government could be behind the killing of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Trudeau said Canadian intelligence has identified a "credible" link between his death and the Indian state.

In the House of Commons, the Canadian Prime Minister said any involvement of a foreign government in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil is an unacceptable violation of his country’s sovereignty

He said it is contrary to the fundamental rules by which free, open and democratic societies conduct themselves.

Inida has previously denied any link to Nijjar’s killing. The pro-Khalistan activist was shot dead in his vehicle by two masked gunmen in June in the busy parking lot of a Gurdwara in British Columbia.
