Former Israel army chief & defence minister slams IDF over killings in Gaza. Moshe Ya'alon said that the ‘Israeli army is no longer a moral army’.

Moshe said he’s worried that killings of Gazans may be taking place during Israeli invasion in the area. Ya'alon served as Defense Minister under Netanyahu from 2013 to 2016.

He made the remarks during a talk with a forum of reservist naval personnel. “No reason why the recruitment into the army of Jewish religious settlers [known as Hilltop Youth] who often murder Palestinians to drive them off their land in the occupied West Bank, will not also execute Palestinians while in uniform with the Israeli army.” Moshe Ya'alon.

Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have regularly killed locals since the start of war. Ya'alon said he was the one who stopped previous bids to kill Hamas leaders. Hamas officials were in an apartment but did not want harm innocents: Ya'alon.  He said among those present in the apartment was Hamas military chief Mohammad Deif.

The IDF claimed it killed Deif in an airstrike in July that killed 90 people. The IDF aerial bombing took place in Israeli-designated ‘safe zone’ in Khan Younis In 2017, Ya'alon spoke against the execution of a Palestinian man by an Israeli soldier.
