Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly has said that his country wants private talks with India to resolve the diplomatic dispute over the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
The statement, reported by Reuters, comes after a report claimed that India has asked Canada to withdraw its 41 diplomats.
The minister said Canada takes the safety of its envoys very seriously and added that diplomatic conversations are best when they remain private.
Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that his country is not looking to escalate the situation with India.
