Gaza’s Al-Shifa hospital was again the target of an Israeli strike with forces storming the medical facility on early Monday. Israel said that Hamas militants had regrouped in the hospital and were firing from inside the compound.

BBC reported that the Al-Shifa hospital raid saw tanks and heavy gunfire. Palestinian officials say tens of thousands of people are sheltered inside the hospital.

The Gaza Health Ministry says some 30,000 people are sheltering at Shifa, and people inside described heavy gunfire and scenes of panic.

The IDF last raided Shifa in November after claiming that Hamas maintained an elaborate command centre within and beneath the facility.

The Israeli Military revealed a tunnel leading to a bunker, as well as weapons it said were found inside the hospital. The evidence fell short of the earlier claims, and critics accused the army of recklessly endangering the lives of civilians.
