American President Joe Biden on 27 December 2022 headed for the US Virgin Islands to ring in the new year with his family.
Joe and Jill Biden left for the island of St Croix on 27 December. Biden regularly visited the island for vacations when he was Vice President between 2009 and 2017.
This will be his first visit to the Virgin Islands as President.
"We're tremendously honoured," Del. Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat who represents the Virgin Islands in Congress, said in a telephone interview.
"We always look forward to his coming and we really understand that this is a place of relaxation for him and Jill and whatever other family he may bring with him and so we leave him alone and let him just relax," said Donna Christensen, who was Plaskett's predecessor in Congress.
