United States President Joe Biden snapped back at a reporter on Thursday when he was asked about a report released by special counsel Robert Hur which talks about his memory being "poor" and "faulty".

The report resolves a criminal investigation that had shadowed Biden’s presidency for the last year.  It concluded that he willfully retained and disclosed classified military and national security information and recommended that the US president not face charges after a yearlong investigation.

The report also mentioned his memory lapses, saying investigators found Biden’s “memory was significantly limited” during interviews with his ghost writer and an interview with Hur’s office last year.

The whole incident happened on Thursday evening while addressing the reporters at the White House.

When the reporter repeatedly pressed on Biden about his memory, the US president retored, "My memory is so bad, I let you speak".

"My memory is not bad, my memory is fine. Take a look at what I've done since becoming the President. None of you thought I could pass any of the things, (but) I got passed. How did that happen?" the US President asked.

He then took a jibe at the special counsel, saying "I guess, I forgot what was going on".

However, minutes later,  Biden had a faux pas moment when he called Egyptian President Abd el-Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil El-Sisi the "President of Mexico" while talking about allowing humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestine.

The US president was talking about convincing El-Sisi to open the gates of Rafah Border Crossing at the border of the Gaza Strip to allow the passage of humanitarian aid into the besieged Palestinian enclave.

"I talked to El-Sisi, I talked to Bibi (referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu) to open the gates on Israel's side," he said.
