Coffin of killed Al Jazeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh almost fell to the ground as Israeli police moved it to beat Palestinians mourners.
Thousands of Palestinians had gathered in Jerusalem to take part in the funeral procession of the journalist who was reportedly killed by Israeli forces.
Shireen Abu Akleh was reportedly shot and killed while covering an Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank town of Jenin early on Wednesday. Though there were initial assertions, especially from the Israeli army that the reporter had been killed in stray firing by Palestinian rebel fighters.
Her death resulted in an outpouring of grief in Palestine, the wider Arab world and journalistic community.
51-year-old Shireen was known around the world for her on-ground reporting on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She joined Al Jazeera in 1997. She covered several historic moments in the conflict from the Second Intifada, the Palestinian uprising against Israel in 2000 to the death of former Palrstine President Yasser Arafat.
